# Push an application from a device

The Applications tab provides a paper-plane Push application button. Its dialog selects an application and one released build compatible with the device model/platform. The exact device is fixed as the target. Optional UTC scheduling and the delivery window use the existing deployment review and confirmation flow.

After confirmation, the Portal returns to the device Applications tab with the install task visible. It polls the command through queued, dispatched and terminal states. A successful install automatically queues a status-report command; after that report is committed, the page reloads the application inventory. The device dialog submits the logical application/version so the server can select the correct model-specific APK.

Start after installation is off by default and requires the reported start_after_install.v1 capability. The server checks that capability, includes the option in the request identity and command payload, and requires launchStatus=requested alongside verified installation evidence before accepting success for an install-and-start task.

UIC Home 3.4.0-dev (7) implements this on both brand flavors. It verifies the installed APK before asking Android to open its launcher activity. A durable pre-launch record prevents repeated launch attempts after redelivery or interruption. A crash during that step is reported as interrupted rather than retried. Android may restrict background activity starts: requested means the launch intent was submitted, not proof that the app became visible. Launch errors retain an explicit installed-but-launch-failed result.

Validation: 133 integration checks passed, including capability gating, command propagation, idempotency and result evidence. Both Android flavors built. NEWPOS agent updated in place on H3R000700069081; telemetry reports 3.4.0-dev and enables the checkbox. Desktop and phone dialog layouts checked. No application deployment was submitted during UI verification; physical install-and-launch remains to be exercised with a chosen released build.
